"The artist is the person who makes life more interesting or beautiful, more understandable or mysterious, or probably in the best sense, more wonderful." - George Bellows

Welcome to My Gallery!

This is a small website devoted to displaying my artwork for the purpose of enlightening and heightening personal awareness in regards to my style and technique.

I am a self - taught artist, in the respect that I have learned how to draw and paint without instruction from professional artists until I felt that I could benefit from another's knowledge. I began by learning how to use charcoal and perfected my techniques - which an art instructor that I had later studied under, was amazed by my innovative use of the medium. Once I perfected my technique, I was determined to move into color. I began with acrylic paint and later into oils. Now I use water based oils, which I find are more versatile to work with. In all, I have been a serious artist for just under a decade.
I have no static method of painting. I prefer to explore the unlimited styles of previous artists and build upon their techniques. Among the artists which I enjoy the most are: Rembrant Van Rijn, Hubert Robert, John Constable, Howard Pyle, Winslow Homer, JW Waterhouse, Edgar DeGas, and Charles Vickery.

Philosophy

I create art for the sole purpose of allowing people to see a side of the world that isn't readily accessible to them. My greatest joy is watching a person smile when they receive a painting that they have commissioned me to do, realizing that it was made for them, and them only. Also, when a total stranger walks by one of my works, stops suddenly to do a double take, and says 'wow!', that is the greatest compliment in the world.

This site is dedicated to all of those who have patronized my work; whether it be through displays, contests, and through some strange quirk of fate, decided that they wanted to pay me for what I love to do.
